RAZZAPPARTE - Gente Senza Poesia EP 1999

Now an Italian Oi! five piece from Viterbo which is active since 1995, and Razzapparte are Flavio (vocals), Angelo & Giacomo (guitars), Stefanino (bass), Emanuele (drums), and this is their debut EP on Resta Rude/Oi! Strike records and we listen to six energetic catchy numbers with a nice guitar sound. Their musical style reflects the members' subcultural Skinhead & Punk attitudes and they not afraid to offer numerous various music styles. Razzapparte, although not considering themselves a militant band, have always taken a stand against racism and the political exploitation of the subcultures and musical styles to which they refer. The group appears on numerous compilations and has released a decent couple of records through their twenty years of existence and received a warm welcome from specialized critics who generally recognized its originality both on a lyrical and musical level and in its approach to the traditional themes of Oi!. The five present an excellent example of how a strong personality is enough to make any form of musical expression original, be it new or old, experimental or conservative.

V/A - United Skins 1982

Today a nice Compilation that was released on the Boots & Braces record label in the early Eighties and the album title has a fundamental meaning. At that time there were significant fights or conflicts in the skinhead scene that were rather stupid and unnecessary. Of course also because of the right-wing scums who called themselves skinheads and had no idea where the culture came from (unfortunately it remains unchanged to this day). I think I don't have to use my mental cells any further, you know the stories, but you don't know where I got the record from. I bought them at a flea market in Berlin many many years ago and I was quite surprised to see them offered for so little bucks, apparently the record god meant well for me. Today you'll have a hard time getting the original because it's banned through the usual channels, which I think is absolutely ridiculous. All seven bands were by no means right-wing at the time and their songs are good and belong to Oi like alcohol to beer. Of course, everyone knows today that Skrewdriver took a broken path and that's the only reason why the slab has become a rarity. Crazy, right! But that is humanity: stupid and extremely stupid. Well, I'm open now an alcoholic drink, enjoy the day off and see what else can happen here today. Enjoy the music!

1.Bloody Bouncers - CONTROL ZONE
2.Anti-Social - SKREWDRIVER
3.Life In A Plastic Bag - T-D-A
4.Swearing Session - ACCUSED
5.Take Him Away - SEDATED
6.Wicked Women - WARRIOR
7.Boots & Braces - SKREWDRIVER
8.Lament Of The Terraces - MICK FURBANK
9.T-D-A - T-D-A

11.Rebel - SEDATED

DAILY TERROR - Gefühl & Härte 12'' 1985

With their third album, Daily Terror have reformed and moved away from aggressive D-Punk and don't hit any new formula with a new line-up, but rather changed their sound to more melodic songs which are more emotional but not a bit quieter: Gefühl & Härte (Feeling & Hardness). And that's exactly what is brilliantly implemented in the five songs and I like the record from the start. Pedder's voice is a bit muffled as usual and the lyric sheet is a big help. Released again on Aggressive Rockproduktionen (AGR) and I think they have proven once again with these recordings that they belong to the upper league of D-Punk and were incredibly important for the scene. At least for me they have given me a lot of good times and help me through dark phases that I had to overcome, and I will sell their records when I get Alzheimer. Daily Terror is always a good choice when you're feeling down and gives you much breathing room. Enough for today, let's go straight to Larz and watch the SGE versus Bayern (Hans, I haven't forgotten you). Enjoy!

THOR - It's A New Way 7'' 1982

Huhhh, a lot of re-upps have been done once again and since I'm not with my girlfriend today and the housework is behind me, I finally have time for new music and the following record is a little discovery and a nice one. Thor was a four piece from Hamme which were formed spring 1977 by Carlo (vocals/bass), Marc & Roland (guitars), Luc (drums) and this is their only record on Assekrem with two brilliant goodies. Not a real Punk band, but what the four recorded is extremely catchy, very nicely played and has very good lyrics. The two songs hit me straight away and I listen to them over and over again. And if that's the case, I'm totally thrilled. Unfortunately this is all, no compilation contributions or anything else to be found anywhere else and the single is relatively not cheapWell, they apparently wouldn't have expected it, but that's just the way it is. An interesting slab, take it or leave it!

ANGELIC UPSTARTS - @ London/Polytechnic 25.06.1981

After a long time, I'm back in this theater for a short time and first: all re-upp requests are fixed. I hope I can devote more passion to blogging again in the future, but at the moment I don't have the drive for it, but wdthtc isn't dead! After the Upstarts were persuaded by the major label to create their fourth album with a pop producer and thus offended every Oi!/Punker, it was time to quit from EMI and they released this live album after this unsuccessful excursion , which the band apparently agreed with because they probably still had to to this because it was the last part of the contract, I think. In any case, this album is an absolute classic and came just right at a time when the band didn't have much together anyway and had to find themselves again, understandably. So 'Live' is full with fifteen nuggets in top quality and anyone who likes the band will be well served here, an album that should be in every well-stocked record collection and needs to be heard at least four times a year.

V/A - Where Birdmen Flew Revisited Vol.3 1999

Before I go to the orthopedic surgeon, I take advantage of the free time and send a sign of life with the following fantastic compilation from 'Down Under', a small series called Where Birdmen Flew Revisited enjoyed a small guest appearance at the end of the Nineties and is very welcome in my house. On the one hand because I love the music from there, on the other hand their singles are difficult to obtain in Europe and yes, there are numerous bootlegs with well known bands, which are almost all essential and therefore many of the bands and songs are similar, but we had this theme before, and yet it's good that new or tried-and-tested comps are constantly being published from there and they always piques my interest. It's difficult to get hold of these records these days and unfortunately they always cost a lot of money, but it's worth it. Volume 1 is a killer and this record as well.

Heute The Light Are On! mit FLIEHENDE STÜRME / KLOTZS / DIE BRENNENDEN WÄLDER

D.I. - Horse Bites Dog Cries 1985

Second album by this California combo D.I. which was released via Reject and has been regarded by some music critics as the bands best album. and I guess it's probably close to that. I only know this one and the songs have energy and can absolutely be considered as an entertaining pleasure. A bit info from wikiDue to a typo on the album itself, many fans believe that it was released in 1985, but this appears to be false because its release was delayed until 1986 to avoid confusion with the band's then-current album Ancient Artifacts. Horse Bites Dog Cries was the final album featuring the Agnew brothers (Rikk & Alfie) and drummer John Knight (until his return on 1994's State Of Shock). Fact is, they packed twelve superbly strong pieces on this record that bring joy and ensure a heated half hour.

ZSD - Ehre & Gerechtigkeit 1981

Today a record I thought it would already be on the blog, apparently not and since I'm in the mood for simple, hearty D-Punk today, I come to the debut of ZSD from Munich, founded in summer 1980 by Wix (vocals/guitars), Sigi (bass), Sepp (drums), which I can't definitely ignore. Released via Lächerlich! Schallplatten and filled with twenty straightforward, short and nasty songs. ZSD embodied the ideals of a Punkrock band like no other throughout practically the entire Eighties and for many, they were a role model with their radical, consistently critical attitude. And with their delicate exactly to the point lyrics - briefly and directly - they were, so to speak, the mouthpiece of the Munich Punk scene. Rightly re-released several times, this record is an irreplaceable sound document of early German Punkrock history and sets a worthy monument to ZSD. Love this stuff, a must listen!
